Senate Suspends Senator Ningi for 3 Months Over Alleged Budget Padding

In a recent development, the Senate has made a decisive move by suspending Senator Abdul Ningi, for three months. The decision came in response to Ningi's claim that the National Assembly padded the 2024 budget with an alarming N3.7 trillion, without any clear allocation to specific projects.

During a plenary session in the Red Chamber, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim presented the motion to suspend Ningi, which garnered support from other senators. They argued that Ningi's assertion lacked substantial evidence, violating the ethical standards upheld by the Senate.

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, endorsed the resolution, leading to the three-month suspension of Senator Ningi.

This decision underscores the Senate's commitment to accountability and transparency in budgetary matters.

Further details on this development will be provided as they unfold. Stay tuned for updates.
